Many people have heard of supermarket meats being red tractor certified. Did you know that as butchers we have to go through an intensive process to ensure that we are accredited for our meat sales too?
SALSA, or Safe and Local Supplier Approval, is one of the leading certifications for food safety for smaller businesses, like The Catering Butcher.
The SALSA standard is considered to be above and beyond the legal minimum requirements, where many small businesses sit. In order for the team here at The Catering Butchers to be accredited for our wholesale meat supplies, we underwent a rigorous auditing process. Which we are proud to say we shone through!
EEC, also known as EU-Eco regulations are in place to ensure that agricultural products (such as the meat we supply) fit within the ecological regulations as set out by both the EU and the UK government.
While we may not directly be included in the animal’s welfare, our licence ensures that we only source our products from reputable, EEC Licensed suppliers.
AIMS, or Association of Independent Meat Suppliers, is the leading association for Meat Traders within the UK. Including wholesale butchers such as The Catering Butcher. They recently introduced the Assured Meat Processing Scheme standard, ensuring that all meat that you purchase from its members has been handled to the highest standards.
In an age where people like to know where their food has come from, and the standards of the company supplying their meats, here at The Catering Butchers, we are happy to keep up to date and above and beyond for our accreditations and associations.
