Achieving every single accreditation or association is a huge milestone for us as a wholesale meat supplier. AIMS

AIMS logo

AIMS, or the Association of Independent Meat Suppliers, is the leading trade association for meat processors, abattoirs, cutting plants, retail and catering butchers within the UK. Since the introduction of the Assured Meat Processing Scheme standard in 2017, AIMS has worked with all sectors of the supply chain. It ensures that all meat that you purchase from AIMS members (including The Catering Butcher) has been carefully handled to the highest of standards. It also provides further reassurance of reliability, quality and ethical business practices to our customers.

SALSA

SALSA approval

SALSA, also known as Safe and Local Supplier Approval, is one of the leading food safety certifications for smaller businesses in the UK, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man. The SALSA standard is considered to be above and beyond the legal minimum requirements, where many small businesses sit. For The Catering Butcher to maintain our SALSA approval, we undergo a rigorous auditing process annually. This ensures the continuous safety of our meat supplies.

Our SALSA audit certificate demonstrates our compliance with the following scope of production:

  • The cutting & packing of red meat, poultry, game and offal
  • The manufacture of meat preparations 
  • Packed into vacuum pack bags and tray-lined boxes
  • Products are chilled and frozen 
  • Procurement of wholesale wrapped products (including cheese and pâté)
  • In-house chilled vehicle distribution

In addition to our accreditations and associations, we operate from our purpose-built premises and strictly adhere to HACCP-based food safety policies and procedures. We are also an approved establishment of the Food Standards Agency and are subject to regular Food Safety audits in areas such as hygienic food handling, cleanliness of facilities and management of food safety.
