New Year, New Menu

4th January 2021

With many restaurants, cafes and eateries being closed periodically throughout 2020, and the start of 2021 still at risk of the same treatment, why not consider a whole menu refurb. Give your customers, both loyal and new, a treat this new year with some big menu changes.

Our menu planning service

Here at The Catering Butchers, we offer a menu planning service. This is music to the ears of many eateries managers and head chefs. Deciding what to add to your menu, time after time, can start to become difficult, without repeating former dishes. That’s where we come in.

Your clientele

The first step on our menu planning is to discuss the style of your business and the clientele that it attracts. Different clientele will be attracted to types of food. For example, a younger clientele will be more inclined to street foods like burgers and hotdogs, while the older generation will look for hearty classics like stew and fish and chips.

What to change, what to keep

Many of our wholesale clients have firm favourites on their menus that customers come back for time and time again. These favourites are certainly ones to keep! Sometimes it might be worth mixing them up with a new side, but as a whole keep the favourites!
Now for the rest of the menu! Every menu has those items on that just don’t perform as well as the rest of the menus. It’s time to switch these up! Whether you are changing them up for something similar, something seasonal, or a completely new style of food, we can find a great replacement for you.
If you are looking to switch up the whole menu, there are a number of things to look out for.

  • Firstly, variety! Having a wide selection on your menu means that whether it’s an old customer, or a customer walking through the doors for the first time, there is enough choice to find something they will enjoy.
  • Think allergies. The focus on allergens in food has become increasingly important and prominent in recent years. When we look at planning your menu we will discuss the range of options with you.
  • What about dietary restrictions? We know that there has been an increase in vegetarians and vegans over the last 10 years. And many vegans will look specifically for a vegan menu, depending upon your clientele target base, we can also look at discussing this option with you.
  • Spice of life. Many of our clients love to add a couple of spicy dishes to their menus. This means that we get to play around with spices in curries, hits of flavour in fajitas and maybe even a tex-mex steak. Adding this type of dish to your menu completes the circle of variety.
